Artists, this is your shot. The City of Shaker Heights is paying $5,000 each to two visual artists to design large-scale murals for Lee Road—part of a sweeping revamp of the Chagrin-Lee commercial district.

These won’t be painted live. The work will be printed and installed with heated vinyl, but the heart of it must come from you and the community. Artists are expected to run at least two public design events between October 2025 and March 2026—talking to neighbors, shop owners, long-timers, newcomers. The work must reflect Lomond and Moreland, not generic wallpaper.

Artists must be Ohio residents, 18 or older, and ready to show how their work represents fairness and inclusion.

The deadline is August 11, 2025. Four finalists will be invited to virtual interviews on August 26. Final fabrication and installation are slated for Spring 2026.

This is about more than murals. It’s about reclaiming space—and telling stories that stick.
