Studio Doors Swing Open for NYC’s Under-the-Radar Artists in 2025 Keyholder Residency
Lower East Side Printshop’s 2025 Keyholder Residency gives NYC artists nine months of free 24/7 studio access, printmaking facilities, a $1,000 stipend, and a free class. Apply by August 15.

In a city where space is power and rent is ruthless, a rare invitation has arrived for emerging artists: nine months of free studio time, no strings attached.
The Lower East Side Printshop’s Keyholder Residency is taking applications through August 15, 2025. For those selected, the doors open October 1st to a sprawling, 24-hour printmaking studio—solvents, darkroom, presses, paper, blotters, and silence (or noise, if you need it). A $1,000 stipend and a free class sweeten the deal.
But don’t be mistaken—this isn’t a retreat. This is work. No hand-holding, no assistants, just space, supplies, and other relentless makers grinding beside you. You don’t need to be a printmaker, just serious. They want artists without studio access. The under-seen. The overlooked. The ones still fighting for a foothold in New York’s overheated scene.
Forget applying as a duo. No degrees in hand. No housing offered. Just you, your ideas, and the pressure to make them real.
Want in? You’ll need ten images, a resume, two references, and your application in before the stroke of midnight on August 15.
This city eats artists. This is one place that feeds them.
